Topics I've Started

Rake (Townes Van Zandt cover)

10 February 2017 - 07:06 AM

I've worked on this Townes song for a couple months.   I had a hard time working out the picking and transition between the second and third chords (F to G) in this progression  (I still do not have it the way I want it but it sounds better after picking at it awhile..)   I'm using Garageband with the laptop internal Mic.

He went to Paris

17 September 2016 - 04:51 PM

I have a few firsts here.  First song Recorded on Garage Band.  First Sound Cloud Upload (needed to change file type etc..took some time to figure that out), First post with a recording.  I just used the mic on the computer with Garageband and realized I had inadvertatnly selected the effects to "Female Basic" when I hit record.  After listening, I think I sound better as a female. :whistling:

Not sure if I'm posting this correctly so this may be a work in progress this morning as well.

Starting Session 4 today.

24 June 2016 - 01:41 AM

Feels great to be onto the next session, FOUR!.  It was kinda tuff to stay focused on 3 with Spring activities and now Summer finally here.  The Lesson Book, Bonus Material, DVD / CD sessions and this Forum lend themselves well to purposeful practice and playing.  Steve does a great job on the DVDs, with teaching and encouragement as does everyone here.  Thanks to ALL of you for your wonderful posts and responses to everyones messages.  All of Your daily Posts and Comments left here have been very rewarding, educational and encouraging to read.

I was very excited to wake up a few days ago and be able to look at all of the new notes for Session 3 (& the rests) and have both hands working hand in hand with my mind!!  I took a few days to make sure I was really doing this.  I wasn't able to keep my goal of practicing everyday 1st thing in the a.m. and before bed.  I think I missed at least 2 days a week.  All in all though, my overall practice time easily surpassed 20 mins a day.

I started playing guitar again aprox Nov 2015 after many years without playing at all and many years before that of noodling etc...without a purpose or plan to move forward.  L&MG and this Forum have provided me with exactly what I needed.  My wife and I are planning on being at the Gathering in Nashville next year...  Looking forward to meeting and playing guitar with some of you.  My wife loves Phil Keaggy's music...We enjoyed watching him live last night on the computer and wished we were there.

Can't remember if I heard Steve Krenz or someone else say "Life is not a dress rehearsal"  Great words to live by.  Live with a purpose.  Thanks.
