Mike, memorization gets difficult with age? I almost forgot what I was going to say.... Darn, I did forget. Oh, well. Lotsa luck.

In Topic: Little bit confused about major scale

You're doing fine and what you wrote is correct. You're almost there. Each key has its own scale and set of chords, as you've already learned. But the definition of chords is the basic chord, which is a triad (three notes). They're formed from the first, third, and fifth notes of the scale BASED ON THE ROOT NOTE for each triad! But each triad can be modified by adding a seventh. Also each chord can have one of its notes Diminished (lowered by a half-step) or Augmented (raised by a half-step), and if these modified chords have a pleasing sound, they often get  played with the family of chords for that key.

If you're really interested in music theory, there's a great book that's long been a favorite of L&MG students: Edly's Music Theory for Practical People. it's written by Ed Roseman and is available online at many places; just Google the title and you can find it. Lotsa luck.

Although I have an Apple iMac, I understand your frustration as software updates take away DVD players. I can't help you with advice based on experience, here's an article from PC Magazine that addresses your problem. Lotsa luck.

They don't sell individual guitar strings? I think you assume (and we know how to spell that word) something that isn't so. Try Just Strings at below website. Lotsa luck.
