In Topic: Live Lesson March 7th - Handouts for Tonight

08 March 2017 - 04:04 AM

Just wondering when the replay will be available; here on the west coast I am always too late to join the party and tonight I missed it entirely.

Thanks so much for the effort you make to produce the lessons, even though I can't be there at "live-time" they are always a great inspiration.

In Topic: Live Lesson Nov 22 - Learning Holiday Songs!

26 November 2016 - 12:50 AM

As I am not able to get home in time to watch the lessons live, I have been depending on the replay to be able to see the shows.  Sadly, the last three will not play all the way through and have not been able to view them yet.

Has there been some change in the way these are recorded?

More importantly: is there any other way to watch the lessons?  I have tried multiple times on both the UStream site as well as Guitar Gathering and have had no better luck on either site.  I know it's not my network connection as I am able to watch Youtube and Netflix with no issues.

I'd appreciate any help at all - I'm really missing my guitar fix.

Thanks.

I have a Kyser and a G7th - prefer the G7th hands down

The Shim Verb in made by Mooer (mis-spelled in my first post- now corrected).  It's very simple: three switch settings of room, spring, and shimmer.  The knobs control level, tone, and decay. Good price as well.

In Topic: Help...I'm old,..I need advice,..do I really need barre chords?

17 August 2015 - 03:36 AM

66-year-old here.  Landed in this lesson series about 2 years ago with a freshly-dislocated pinky on my left hand and about 30+ years between me and the last time I picked up a guitar.  It hasn't been easy, but the rewards have been enormous.  Admittedly, I'm not following the lessons as religiously as I could, and I don't participate in the forum as often as I should, but it has ignited an old fire and I am playing the music I love and found my singing voice again.  The whole journey has not been without pain and frustration, and I expect more to come.  Last month I started playing at an open mic coffee house and am on my way to becoming a regular there.

I've also learned to love the barre chords along the way - for some strange reason they make sense to me now more than ever before. . . and you just can't play that intro to 'Sister Golden Hair' without them.
