About Me

I am 53 years old. Born in Athens, Greece. Grew up an "Air Force" brat
as my Dad was in the military. Attended 7 different schools from 3
different countries (USA, Canada, & Australia) while growing up till
I graduated from high school in Atlanta, Georgia. Enlisted in the US
Navy in 1981. Got out in 1988 and became a navigator for Schlumberger. I
have worked on seismic research vessels since 1988 to present. We
search for oil beneath the ocean floor for our clients (oil companies
such as Shell, Chevron, BP, etc) all over the world. I met my soon to be
wife on August 23rd, 1985. Married her August 26th, 1989. She passed
away from a heart attack on January 27th, 2009. I live alone with my
dog Blue (my daughter watches Blue at her house when I am working offshore)
I work a 5 weeks offshore and 5 week break schedule. I've lived in
Vinton, Virginia since 1990.

WHO I AM: I am the culmination of every life experience I’ve encountered
in my life since memory as a child to the present. I am who I am today
from every encounter I’ve had with every single person that’s been a
part of my life and even the random encounters with strangers and the
friendships that I’ve developed throughout the course of my life. That
includes all the people I’ve communicated with whether that’s in the
real or virtual world. I am who I am from the results of the many
failures and successes I’ve had in my life. I do love people, animals,
nature, and life. I love to read, write, and learn and will be that way
till the day I die. I love children as they bring out the best in me as
they see through an un-jaded world and remind me the constant beauty in
truth, innocence, and unconditional love that I had been guilty of
forgetting from time to time in the course of my busy life. The most
influential thing that I’ve read in my life was when I was 17 years old.
It’s the poem The Desiderata. To this day it is how I try to live my
life. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what
peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be
on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their
story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the
spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and
bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than
yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested
in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing
fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the
world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue
there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is
full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and
disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel
of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture
strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not
distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and
loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You
are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you
have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt
the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and
aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful
world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.
