Eventually you can learn to play most open chords with you middle, ring, and pinky. That way you can barre with your index finger, etc.

I've been listening to Black Country Communion lately. Greg Hughes on bass and vocals, Joe Bonamassa on guitar and vocals, Jason Bonham on drums and Derek Sherinian on keys

I also have the Edly's book. I am also working through Garage Band Theory (Tools The Pros Use To Play By Ear) by Duke Sharp. It's pretty good so far.

I haven't "memorized" all the scales and key signatures, but I can build them all and figure out what they are using the patterns and formulas described. I am slowly getting to a point where I can recognize them on the fly. As time goes by I can also pick them out and play the scales anywhere on the neck.

It takes time and practice. There aren't any shortcuts. You've gotta put in the miles.

In Topic: Can We Guess What Kind of Guitar You Play?

Pretty close in my case. It says I play a Gibson or similar hollowbody. I spend the majority of my time playing my Casino or Dot.

Said the same for me.

Only I don't even own a hollowbody.

I'm thinking that these surveys are all BS, but as the OP said, it's how you spend your time, and how do we waste it LOL.

It is Reverb.  Probably designed to return the type of guitar you might not have, so you'll buy one,

I think you're right. I chose options that in my opinion would point to a Fender Strat (which is my #1), it suggested I played and LP or possibly a SG.

I remember it all too well. He was opening for Clapton at Alpine Valley not to far south of me. Very sad day.
