About Me

Been playing since about 1957 when I started driving my parents nuts on a Stella guitar they gave me for Xmas. Still haven't learned much, but put in many thousands of hours enjoying trying to play. Never had opportunities to play with many others or had anybody to teach me much. Took a years worth of lessons back in 1961, but didn't know very much more when I quit than I did when I started. That's why I quit. Went back to the same guy again two years later and did the same thing for six months and had to give it up again. Last time I ever got the chance to take lessons. He was the only game I could find in town then. I was paying for the lessons out of my own pocket and walking to the studio to take them, so I was kind of limited where I could go.

After that was life, but I kept a guitar around me to play as much as I could find time to. I bought books on top of books and tried to teach myself. Had a friend in High school that was part of a band that taught me a few things, but there wasn't much time then either. Carried a guitar around everywhere I went whenever I had one, but always seemed to loose them when I got married to someone. Had four wives and each one seemed to cost me a good guitar to a pawn shop.

Now I'm and old geezer but still love to play and figure it is about time to learn how. Have plenty of time to put into it now, since I am no longer going to sea and mostly sitting around. This course is a great opportunity for me and I can see where it can teach me more than any lessons I ever had before. I wish something like this had been around back in '57. I'd probably been one of those "musician" people that did nothing but play guitar!
