Nashville and our man "Steve"

18 September 2017 - 07:43 PM

So. we were invited to go to Nashville this past weekend with some friends. First stop was Franklin Tenn and it just happened we parked in front of Shuff's Music Store. We went in and I saw a book on Congas that I was going to purchase on line. As the female clerk and I were talking I was telling her I always wanted to come to Nashville as my guitar teacher "Steve Krenz" is from Nashville. She laughed and said Steve worked as a teacher in our other store.. small world. Next stop Carters and Gruhns Guitars. Of course all in Gruhns knew Steve and Andrew told me he does his shows from Gruhns. Yes I had to buy a vintage shirt because the Martin Guitar I liked , was only priced at $ 195,000.00 and that was on the first floor. What a town and yes we will be back. It has inspired me to do even better.

Guitar Player adding Congas

29 August 2017 - 05:14 PM

I am looking at adding a set of Congas maybe 10 or 11 and 11.3/4 size to our music room,  but don't want to spend a crazy amount. I see that some LP and Toca are made in the same factory. It seems Meinl are better made than low end congas and have Buffalo Hide vs Cowhides. Anyone have any suggestions. I was wondering about just buying one LP Classic Conga now seems better quality with hardware ?  Also MF has a 15% off coupon that GC (same company) will match over next couple days. I need some sound suggestions and appreciate in advance any tips about Congas.

Thanks

Squier Classic Vibe Low E String ?

26 July 2017 - 08:38 PM

Hi everyone and sorry for not stopping by in a while but life got in the way with my adult kids, grandkids and a lot of summer travel. So I was helping my 8 year old grandson go over Steves course today. Something I do is let him play several of my guitars, once he finishes really to just play around and see how they feel.  ( he pretends he is a rocker)  I took my Squier Classic Tele out and was tuning it.. for the life of me I could not get it to tune correctly on the LOW E String. It showed in my Korg tuner it went from 5a to 7b for the life of me I could not get that string tuned. Probably a real simple answer.. like change the strings.. But I have never ever had that happened to me before. Any comments would be helpful.. Thanks in advance   and I promise to stop by more often
