And this is just the kind of conference that is going on just outside my hotel room door.

Wish you were here.

bump again :D

aka The Jell-O Man, JelloManKent
I once played a cat and got all scratched up. I should have waited until it was made into guitar strings first.
Jell-O curtains are the best of both worlds. Just don't eat the curtains.

As we are getting closer to the event I was reminded of this thread and wanted to give it a bump.

My wife wants to know if they'll be serving GooGoo Clusters and Coke-Colas at the Ryman on All-Star night. (Typing, it's kind of hard to inflect the kind of accent she affected when asking the question.)

It's gotta be the ones with pecans. Those are much better! I can't wait to get all jacked up on RC and GooGoos

Sounds like the Gathering from last year. I'm really looking forward to this June.

Brian, I'm sorry you won't be there this year. I hope your step-son's wedding exceeds all your expectations. :D

Regards,

Tom

If I could have a guitar conference...

I'd have a conference where people, no matter what stage of development (beginner, intermediate, or professional), would feel comfortable, respected, and supported by each other because we are all musicians.

That's exactly how I felt when I came with Bing to the first one. I was apprehensive to say the least as I had literally just picked up the guitar and really had only read the first lesson when I came. Bing said there would be great people there and even though I could barely tell you all the parts of the guitar and the name of the strings I would enjoy it. I'm glad I came. I plan on trying to make it each year when life allows. It's nice to meet folks in your support group that have shared in your frustration, complete misery at times, and joys when you see your progess. See you there!

I fully agree Steve and I am glad that the ethos that Mike M and I started in 2008 is still going.

Funny thing is , that perfectly describes the last 2 Gatherings that I have attended ! lol . Steve , I hate that I will miss this year as my Step=son is getting Married that week , but a couple of my friends who have bought your course that I work with ( yes , I praise this course to everyone ) will be attending this year and they have promised to take lots of pics !

My first conference I had only been playing a few months, but It amazed me how I was treated like a " Fellow Musician " by Professionals who have toured with the likes of Alabama . I WILL BE THERE IN 2011 ! Everyone enjoy themselves like I have the last 2 years !

If I could have a guitar conference...

I'd have it filled with wonderful and fascinating people who just like playing guitar and being together.

It would feel more like a family reunion than a conference.

I'd invite great guitarists to give classes...but only ones that had a heart for teaching others. I'd avoid others and their high honorariums and self-centered demands because they are too "uppity" to be bothered with teaching others.

I'd have a conference where people, no matter what stage of development (beginner, intermediate, or professional), would feel comfortable, respected, and supported by each other because we are all musicians.

Where the stars of the show would be the attendees.

Where there would be equal joy felt from all between hearing a great professional solo and watching a nervous beginner overcome their fears to fulfill a lifelong dream and play in front of people for the first time.

Where good folks come from all over, meet each other and laugh and learn and strangers become friends in a few days.

Where, even the professionals that come, come away encouraged.

Yep... that's the kind of conference I would have.
