It's the small victories that feel so good. I was able to play through all the of the exercises without my fretting hand cramping up! Not all of the chords rang perfect or were my changes lighting fast; that will all come with much more practice.

Keep playing. The sore fingers and the cramps mostly go away. Use the right amount of pressure so you don't squeeze so hard. It will take time, but it will get easier.
