Mike,

What do you mean by "hardly playable"?  Too great of difficulty level?  Or the books/songs don't provide adequate information?

David Hamburger has a good course over at TrueFire, titled "Fingerstyle Blues Factory".  I have a couple of his courses and really like his teaching style.  But this course is labelled "Intermediate/Late Intermediate".  If you're concerned this might be a little bit too chewey David has some beginning Fingerstyle Blues Stuff.  I have his Fingerstyle Blues Handbook I and 2 and hope to get back to them sometime.  They are labelled for late beginner. And David is very accessible if you ever have a question.  He has answered my question by email on more than one occasion.   I have only put his stuff on hold for now to concentrate on my pentatonic scales.

i had looked at a couple of the old time delta blues books and the notation looked a little ruff to read/play. i really like the "slow delta" blue songs that use the thumb against the low six string litely muted and the fingers using the claw affect. i tried using the pick with the fingers like steve does but have not yet got this figured out. i am probably an advanced beginner . just looking for a few songs to learn and play on my free time from the blues lesson book

Mike,

take a look at that link in my previous post.  You can look at his introduction of the course and can preview a couple lessons.  As I recall, you learn a song each lesson.  Of course, the very first one will be very simple.  It is all '"slow delta" blue songs that use the thumb against the low six string litely muted...'

Let me know what you think.

Ron

Hey, i don't know any book but i spend the last year practicing delta blues from the site of stefan Grossman. Now i am going through the learn and master guitar course and keep practicing delta blues.

The site offers you dvds as well as downloadable dvd's in various styles -blues early blues-country...(most of them fingerpicking).

You might wanna check this out, It start with 1 dvd course(11songs i think) and then a follow up dvd with some more songs. when you go through this courses you build a solid foundation of the alternating bass delta blues.

Then you are ready to play more advanced delta blues or bottleneck or even celtic music if you like.

You can find it all on this site, i think for delta blues its one of the best...  this is the link to that first course where it all starts: https://stefan1501.w...et#.WkP9XiNx_9A

hope this helps you grtz
