Alright.........after talking with Steve and getting a feel for the ligistics involved with a formal gathering, it is apparent that it will have to be scheduled for 2016. Working on this and I will be back to you with a little survey to acquire some feedback!
The next item that will be addressed is an informal gather for 2015. This is all tentative at this time. I need to talk to Steve one more time and I will post a seperate survey for feedback on a possible informal gathering in Nashville during Summer NAMM Thursday July 9th thru Saturdeay July 11th. Please standby for additional information. "I'll be back" (in my best Arnold voice)
Popeyetsm, whoops, I mean Arnold, unless a lot of people absolutely want/have to go to NAMM maybe we should consider a time other than July 9-11. Because NAMM is so huge and it fills up hotel rooms that may be why the rooms were so expensive that I reported. If we consider a less "peak" time we may get more reasonable room rates.
M- I hear you and I have been concerned with the dilemma that this time frame appears to be having on the scheduled gathering and the feedback from forum members as to cost and lodging. The date was selected based on prior gatherings and NAMM for the intertainment value that is brought to the city during this week and to enhance the gathering and all in attendance.
There is no one person who can select a date that will appease everyone and their schedules and situations. If someone has a method to select a better date, then I am open and flexible to serve the whole. This is not about me, I am only trying to facilitate an LMG member gathering. Consider this an open discussion for review and making adjustments, if that is what is necessary to provide the best opportunity for attendance. This is a members decision, but I fear opening this up is akin to opening Pandora's box.
I have deferred to Steve and his local connections and abilities in trying to make provisions that would assist in defraying the cost of lodging. I have emails and phone messages requesting additional information. I know Steve is busy and does not need the added burden, but we should give him a chance to respond and assist in this decision. Steve and Greg are key individuals and their time and schedules have a major impact on this gathering!
