I am going to step out on the ice here and volunteer to take UNOFFICIAL action to, as they say in the south....."kick the dog off the porch and see if it will hunt!"

This is unofficial dialogue for seeking information on the possibilities of a 2015 or even 2016 Legacy Days Guitar Gathering.

Please hold all comments and questions until I can give an official response. I have a phone call message and an email sent to Steve asking for an official position and/or the steps that would be required to meet any legal and official requirements to sanction this event or if it needs to be a private event.

More to follow......standby!! Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Legacy would not be interested in pursuing this but I would be willing to toss out a few ideas on it. - Steve

Steve, when I took the private lesson from you in Chicago we discussed this ever so briefly.  And as you can tell from Popeyetsm's starting this thread he is interested in getting this going.  And,of course, there have been other discussions on this.  I think it's clear there are least a handful of forum member's very interested in your ideas on this and willing to help on it.  And I'm sure among those are some with the organizational skills to pursue this.   Now is probably the time we should start the planning.

Mat- there must be a reason that Legacy cannot get involved. I will talk to Steve Friday and get the spacifics so we know how we can move forward. It may have to be a privately organized event. Knowing Steves heart, I believe he wants to help , he might have his hands tied and the forum is not the place to discuss these issues. I won't give up until satisfied with our options. I appreciate you.

I don't think it's a matter of "Legacy cannot get involved".  I think probably Legacy does not see it as potentially profitable enough to justify an investment of time/money.  And I can see their reasoning on this.  I don't how many people showed up before.  But if 100 people at a registration fee of  $75 each that is only revenue of $7500 before time and expenses.  I doubt if they consider it worth the risk.

ps. It's not Mat.  Either Mato or Ron

Jayson, exactly my thoughts.  If we just had someone contact a hotel in Nashville and reserve some meeting rooms to jam in, we could show up and call it whatever we want!  If Steve wants to be "officially" involved we could call it that, "The Mighty Oak Music Gathering".   Or, if we even need a name, we could call it anything.  If we guaranty the hotel enough rooms they will provide the conference rooms no charge.  If we plan far enough ahead that people book their rooms the hotel will know they are getting the room rentals.  We should be able to do this net zero cost.  We should also be able to get a few vendors to rent exhibit space in one of the conference rooms to defray any possible expense.

Hey everyone.....had a chance to talk to Steve today and it was very informative. Bottom line, Steve wants a gathering and will help in anyway possible. Steve will be making a post to talk to everyone in the next day or two concerning this topic.

As you know, he has started Mighty Oak Music and his time and work load are engaged in getting it off the ground. He has a major music engagement scheduled as well as 2015 west coast NAMM on the calendar already.

We may our May not be able to do this in 2015. It is all speculation right now, but it is still alive and we will deal with logistics and timing, whether it is 2015 or 2016 is dependent on issues that cannot be resolved today. Due to logistics, work load and timing for planning an event of this nature and magnitude, it may have to be moved back to 2016 or resolve to do a more relaxed layed back informal gathering this year. I will formulate a question & answer sheet and post it for feedback from those who might be interested in attending the two options. Please continue to be patient.......... There is work going on in the background.

Thank you.

This is very similar to the way the first Gathering got started way back in 2008....

Just a way for us to get together and have some fun.

To be able to actually meet and get to know the folks we spend time with here on the forums is awesome!

Getting a little nostalgic now and missing a few folks, like Adele and Warren...

Alright.........after talking with Steve and getting a feel for the ligistics involved with a formal gathering, it is apparent that it will have to be scheduled for 2016. Working on this and I will be back to you with a little survey to acquire some feedback!

The next item that will be addressed is an informal gather for 2015. This is all tentative at this time. I need to talk to Steve one more time and I will post a seperate survey for feedback on a possible informal gathering in Nashville during Summer NAMM Thursday July 9th thru Saturdeay July 11th. Please standby for additional information. "I'll be back" (in my best Arnold voice) :)

This is the first I am reading this topic.

I had mentioned same to Steve last Fall by private message and offered to carry most of the water but he didn't bite so I figured he was too busy and it was dead.

First I learned anything might be happening was a brief comment Steve made during live lesson 2/24/15.

I attended the last two of these events (my icon is an otherwise ugly ovation guitar signed by artists at the last one 2011).

I would be very interested in participating in the next one be it 2015 or 2016.

If I can help in any way, please contact me.
