Can't commit 100 percent because of an odd and ever-changing work schedule, but it occured when I either had time off or were able to take time off, I'd loooooooooooooove to go.  It's at the top of my list for vacation in 2014.

Steve, I`d like to chime in here with an idea I`ve mentioned before.........would it be possible to get the L&M Guitar T-shirt sales going again (possibly through Legacy) and make it a fundraiser?  Proceeds could go towards making  the 2014 Gathering happen??

I would personally support it by buying a T-shirt, even  if I didn't go myself.

Is there any chance Legacy would get on board if we raised money that way to offset costs?

I'd make the trip from Charlotte.

Like everyone else has said in this topic, I'd be very, very interested in going next year. My wife and I have friends in Nashville, but would probably stay at the hotel that was set up. And I'd almost give my eye teeth to be at a gathering.

Hear, hear!! On the T shirts, I'd buy several.

Let's get 'er done!

Just a thought on this since I've been wanting to go to one of these ever since I first heard about itover two years ago.

Nashville is a place I have always wanted to see. The music there has to be about as good as it gets anywhere. I'd go there just to hang around and got to all the live stuff I could find.

Then came L&MG with Steve Krenze! along with the course came this forum and all the people in it. I've gotten to know an awful lot of people just through tthese posts, many of which I have never even spoken to. Meeting any of them would be a treat! meeting Steve would be over the top to me. To visit Grunn's would be GAS torture, but I think I would put myself through it anyway.

Organization seems to be the real hassel here, but why do we need a lot of organization?

I think we need a place and a time. Steve, would probably know the how to find a place that would let us gather in without a lot of trouble. It wouldn't necessarily have to be anything more than a hall or anywhere we could all get together with our guitars and amps and plug in and jam. Jams are probably the most fun I have ever had with a guitar in my hand! So lots of electric plugs and a place where we won't get arrested for noise polution.

If somebody pointed me to a motel I could stay in that would want a motrgage to get a room, I'd be happy, as long as the bugs weren't too hungry. And if not, I could probably find a place close to town to pitch a tent for a few days.

I wouldn't need or expect to have a whole bunch of famous guitar players come to keep me entertained, that somebody would have to hire to come put on a show. I'm sure that Steve knows a few musicians that would be happy to just come hang out with us, if nothing else than for the rememberance of their own learning.

I don't think this thing needs to be something that Gibson needs to commercialise and make a profit or even break even in.They don't even need to have anything to do with it.

We'd come to see Steve and Nashville and each other. Those of us that could would and still some of us might miss that date because of THINGS, but we can't all make it at the same time. But, if a date were set and a place, those that could would. And even if we had to wing it we'd come up with something there. Don't tell me there is nothing to do in Nashville for a bunch of wanna-be guitarists.

I'll bet we could all even find a way to feed ourselves. After all we are comming to meet and have fun and we all have the same thing in common. We ought to be able to get together and have some fun some how with out being led by the nose.

So, all I ask is for Steve to set a date and a place to meet where we can see his smilling face. He can bring his gutar too. I'll bet we figure out what to do from there.

If the date were the same for every year, I'll bet that more and more people would find ways to get there.

I'd come, if I can get there. If not I'll be sad again another year and trying to find a way to get there for the next one, just like I have been for the last two years. But, I'd have something to aim at for the next one. I'll still be wanting to come to Nasville and see Steve.

Be a lot of fun just to meet whoever turns up. I've met a couple of guys taking this course and they were both pretty good guys. I've gotten kind of friendly with one of them and I'd even drag him along for the ride if I had to. That is if he hasn't become a rock star by then and have to pay him for his presence.

Whatdayathink, Steve? You got a couple days off next summer to play wth us?

WD

I live in North Carolina.  Some of us have been to all of the Gatherings...and would certainly keep coming.  When the company was bought out by Gibson, most of the "personal touch" was lost...except for Steve.  Money certainly became the deciding factor.  I think we were all surprised by how much fun the Gatherings were.  The things we did?...Well, we got to established friendships with each other, the staff, the members of Steve's ensemble, Greg Voros and even some of the amazing stars who came to teach us.  We went out to various places at night and saw even more well-known stars...the Ryman (sp.?) Auditorium and various nightclubs, including B. B. King's.

Adele put the first one together almost single-handedly...all the way from England...almost an impossible feat!  When discussion about the 2012 Gathering mysteriously became silent, I knew what was happening...and I guess the other "regulars" also sensed it.

I think that as long as Steve continues showing his interest, the possibilities remain alive!  My memories of the Gatherings will last forever.

                                   Respectfully,

                                                                  Marshall LaFar

I would seriously think about making the trip from the UK next year if it happened. I've always wanted to go to one.

Hi Kids!

Greetings from Kandahar AFG. I got a cheap ax and an hour every evening.

So I would like to throw something else out. I use to ride motorcycles, and more specifically Honda Ace 750 club that was formed on Delphi Forums . We gathered in the spring and fall and we didn't have any sponsorship. My point is just do it! Rooms can be blocked out for a weekend or as long as agreed to. We can plan our own workshops and performance. There is enough good/great players that have gone through this course and who still mentor the new folks to make this a success. With all due admiration and respect to Steve and Legacy, I submit this can be pulled off without either. Steve's students hosting, teaching, and performing would be the best form of appreciation that can be  bestowed to him.

Let's take the business end out of this, figure a date and a location and take it from there. I am home in April so I am open for the summer. I would be more than happy to help out if possible. If we need to take this to a off forum to get things going, then lets do it.

Happy Holidays

I agree with WD and with the other sentiments expressed.  I'd love to come to Nashville and have some fun with you all.  I wasn’t able to make it to the past gatherings.  I'm heartened that Steve is considering this and I hope he's involved.  We need to give him some time to work out his schedule so he can determine if and when he can make it.  But if for some reason, it doesn't work out for him, we can do this ourselves.  All we need is the date and a hotel with a meeting room large enough where we can jam without disturbing too many people.  The gathering in 2009 was July 16-19.  In 2010 it was June 16-20, and in 2011 it was June 22-26.  I don't know the dates for 2008.  In 2011 the gathering was held at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Nashville.  I understand they had a meeting room for the group and the hotel is walking distance to a lot of the places folks wanted to go.  As I see it, the considerations for picking a date are: Steve is able to come, and minimizing the conflict with major events that could make getting rooms difficult.

Looking forward to seeing you in 2014.

Merry Christmas!

Bill

Tom, I suspect that Legacy lost money due to the fact that they "brought in awesome guests for workshops and concerts and took it to a new level."  I have to wonder that if we were to go back to the original more conservative agenda that we couldn't do it net zero.

If we find a location with good flight connections and then find a suitable hotel we could go to that hotel and guaranty them "x" number of rooms.  In return for which they will provide us a meeting room no charge.  I've done this many times in a previous life.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but rather just throwing it out to see what kind of interest there would be in a scaled down get together.

I'm not an expert in organizing stuff, but that's the kind of thinking that could make the Gathering materialize. The most important part are the people. So I would say that finding a proper venue, plus some food and accomodation offers (the participants decide where and how much they pay) in a wide range of prices would be kind of enough.

I hope that the Gathering will take place in 2014, although I'm pretty sure it will be out of my reach.

I'm a little bummed that the Legacy Days have stopped.

I was pretty psyched when Steve mentioned it on the video.

Was looking forward to heading to Nashville after so many years.

Any word on if they are going to start again?

No word on them starting up.  Don't let it stop you from going to Nashville.  Steve makes time to meet up with students of the courses when they are in town.

Seriously??? That's just amazing! But since I have lived there already, I would really only head back to meet up with a group every day. Otherwise, I'd be there bored since I have been to all the bars and watering holes more times than I can count.

I've been thinking about planning a trip to Nashville from the UK in 2015. Then I saw the short video on the course DVDs and got REaLly excite, only to find this thread and get let down with a bump. What a shame the events don't happen any more. Think I will go ahead and plan a trip anyway. If anyone has any advice on best tours, hotels, places to see let me know, and also if there's any particular time of year when it's best to visit.

Thanks
Ian

This all started when a group of students thought it was a good idea..

All of them agreed on a date, location, meet and Steve met up with them.

Then it blew into a larger than life event for Legacy and Steve with more cost and time involved.

I would think that if 15-20 Students started thinking of meeting each other in Nashville at a specified time/date that maybe Steve would join them.

This could happen... but the Students have to make it happen.
