I have noticed that a lot of pages are missing from this thread due to converting to the new format and updates to the Forums. This makes it harder for new members to follow the history of this thread and how the story got to where it is now. Therefore, I'm going to catch people up with the following posts for those who want to read them. The links will not work, because those files are no longer there. It's still a fun read to see how this thread got started and how the story developed.

***The Legacy*** Open Mike & Lounge

#1 cajabu

Posted 05 June 2008 - 12:41 AM
hi all.

here we have our open mike lounge, a place to come in, chill out and meet with friends, a place for living out your dream performance, or just a place for chit chat, a place to unwind and talk about your day.

let me walk you around the place, nice cozy dim atmosphere, u-shaped booths that seat four people, tables that seat two, and stools at the bar. a small dance floor in front of the small but very well equipped stage, curtain backdrop, of course ;)

the bar itself is well lit, shiny glasses are hanging from the racks, drinks of every nature served, feel free to start your own tab.

there is a juke box in the corner, if you don't feel like playing your guitar, select your own music for inspiration, or just chill out and relax.

for when your spouse won't take you out, when your girlfriend has a headache, or just come in and chat with friends, hard day at the office, or job hunting getting you down? come in, pick up a guitar, here we have a great selection of acoustics and electrics, take your pick, play your dream guitar or your own, pick up a newspaper if you wish to be alone, or join company and have fun watching the show.

we are open 24/7, dress to impress or come casual, the choice is your own, feel free to mingle, for those in 12 step programs, don't worry we have non alcoholic drinks, come and be a part of the experience.

so...what's your bliss?

#2 cajabu

Posted 05 June 2008 - 01:15 AM
cajabu walks over to the bar.

she orders a red wine.

she waves to jsignal, resurrected, warren, dusty and reggie, and joins them at their table.

cajabu: hey you guys, have you seen the thread with the links to where everyone lives?

jsignal: yep

res: of course i've seen it, ya ditz, i started it.

cajabu: well this is so funny because when i read it i was thinking, gosh everyone lives in a much more interesting place than i do, except that you can get really good coffee in edmonton, and i'm out of coffee, but i have tea, no one ever runs out of tea, i was looking for some interesting links for edmonton, but all they have in those links are pictures of the big mall we have here, ho hum what a snore, they should have links to the great coffee houses here, darn i'm out of coffee, so much for abundance, i really should get my priorities right.

res rolls his eyes, gee zeus this bird says a lot without saying much of anything, he thinks.

reggie: there's lots of links to great coffee places carma, i gave you a link for transcend coffee just the other nite.

cajabu: oh yes, so true reggie, hey you should put up some links for edmonton in that thread, you'd do our city proud.

reggie: you know i got the links, carma.

warren: yes, we know you're linked, reggie.

jsignal: reggie have you been drinking too many floofy coffees again, you mad *****.

dusty: oh well, here it is, wednesday night and sitting in with a group of twisted friends, that's why i decided to come here, good company great music.

res: holy mother, what is that noise.

the group looks up to see a rather infamous member of the board take the stage, omg, he's in full gear tonight, will it be a jimmy page impersonation? eric clapton, bb king? perhaps a tribute to bo diddley?

the crowd is breathless with anticipation, as our illustrious musician begins his warm-up....

jsignal: can we put on some good music.

cajabu: what do you want?

jsignal: jim reeves.

jim reeves plays, followed by patsy cline.

jsignal: i was kidding, do i look like a jim reeves man, do i look like i go out walkin' after midnite? do i look like i'm falling to peices over here?

cajabu: no jim, i know you're a lou reed man, i just heard you wrong is all.

res: good lord, you're deaf carma.

cajabu: huh?

reggie: well, you look like you fell down after midnight, and were dragged in by the cat in pieces, jim.

dusty: somebody change the subject before this gets ugly.

cajabu: ya know that was a good movie, sweet dreams, i always thought jessica lang was lovely, and wasn't she great in francis? hav you ever seen it, it was one of the best films ever, it was beaten in the oscars by sophie's choice, it was a good movie but not as good, and sam shepard did you know he also writes, strange but good stuff, a man to die for

res rolls his eyes again, does this chick ever shut up, he wonders.

warren: i always thought sam sheppard was hot.

dusty: oh agnes, you think everyone in a stetson is hot.

cajabu pulls a comic from a bag.

jsignal: what are you reading carma?

cajabu: oh it's a comic called the invisibles, it's kinda old now, but it's really good, really out there, apparently it's all about anarchy, and stuff, there is a scene where you see john lennon from the past.

jsignal: but aren't you tending bar, carma?

cajabu: gosh no, but i'm hiring, do you know anybody, this is just somewhere to chill, share your thoughts, speak to others, kinda like a chat room, hell any time I'm bored I'll just come in here and speak.

resurrected, jsignal, dusty, warren and reggie continue their conversation, carma sits with her chin in her hands flicking the pages of her new old comic book, as they all wait to see just who is about to take center stage...

oh i hope he's not gonna play fur elise, cajabu thinks. she is secretly quite jealous of anyone who can play fur elise without messing up on the F#.

Warren enters> Howdy y'all. Bartender, a round for the house on me!

Carma! How nice. I like what you've done with the place. Now if we can get some decent coffee here....

Hey, Guys! Good to see ya. Not working tonight Res? Well this should be interesting. Hey, can just anyone get up on the stage? I could have sworn I heard Jim Reeves in here on my way in. I'm not in that class, but I'll give it a shot.

Can I have a LARGE cup of coffee over here? And another for Agnes. Y'all know Agnes, my alter ego? "Hiya, boys and Carma...nice to see ya all. Tell me, do these jeans make me look fat?"

Jsignal says "You great cow, you ARE fat..it isn't the jeans!" Jim, that may be true, but it wasn't kind to say.

Jim sighs: No, maybe not, but it was expected and I'm just too bloody pissed to change now.

Okay, y'all shut up! I'm gonna play now... Warren pulls out his concealed automatic guitar...the one with the built in amp...

Guitar Playin’ Man
By Warren Crane

He’ll come drifting into town
And you think he’ll settle down
You can’t trust a guitar playin’ man

He’ll tell you things you want to hear
He’ll whisper in your ear
You can’t trust a guitar playin’ man

He’ll treat you to a song
Then he’ll do you wrong
You can’t trust a guitar playin’ man

He’ll do you once or twice
And tell you that was nice
You’ll waken with the dawn and he’ll be gone

He likes to soil a dove
But the only thing he loves
Is the string and wood he holds between his hands

Now, Daughter, don’t you see
That’s how you came to be
Mama trusted a guitar playin’ man.
You can’t trust a guitar playin’ man
Never trust a guitar playin’ man.

*whew* I need some more coffee...and Agnes says she wants to do "7 lonely days makes one lonely week."

Good job Agnes...Might need to try a capo on that next time because of your voice range. Loved it though.

Who ever thought of this lounge idea..Great job.

#5 cajabu

Posted 05 June 2008 - 03:32 PM
cajabu looks up from her comic book, surprised to find that everyone has left, embarrassed to have even been sitting at the same table as her. even the bartender has taken off, absconded with the cash from the very meager sales the night before.

she scratches her head in wonderment, the thought had not occurred to her that people would think she must be on drugs.

well, maybe i should be, she thinks. maybe then she would achieve some sense of what the world calls 'normal'. the idea of 'fitting in' has always been an appealing one, but not one she has ever been willing to compromise herself for.

anyway, she has always wanted to visit thailand, now is as good a time as any. she's become very good at putting the past behind her and moving on.

she hangs a "for sale" sign in the window, and locks the door on her way out. the sun is shining, and she smiles softly, humming a little diddy to herself as she thinks of her upcoming trip to asia. or maybe the gallapagos islands, who can say for sure. she's once again, looking forward to her next little adventure, full of that delicious anticipation she enjoys so much.

cajabu makes her way casually down the street, there are some interesting shops in this neighborhood, she soon finds herself lost in her own curiosity and admiration for the work of a local sculptor, the lines of his work are sinuous, tactile....somehow hedonistic in nature. she wanders into the tiny art gallery, anxious to see and touch and experience....the expressions of a kindred spirit.

Delbert steps up to for sale sign.
Hmmmmm...
I sense there is a curtain in there.
In a blurr of dust and spinning stuff.........
Da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
This is a job for Curtain Man.
Wood splinters as CM drives his curtain material boot through the old bar door.
Cough...splutter.........choke.
Blooming dusty in here.
Grabs an old Martin that was stood in the corner on the way to the stage.
Sits on a stool with a ripped old curtain as a back drop.
In the gloom you can just make out the sillouette of CM.

Music strikes up............

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
When I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

ALL TOGETHER NOW.

#9 Myrdhinn

Posted 05 June 2008 - 09:25 PM
It was another hot, muggy day in the city, the blare of horns and stink of gas fumes hanging in the still air. As I walked briskly down the street, taking note of the usual yobs in hoodies lounging in dim doorways waiting for a quick snatch and grab, chavs in their flocks yammering on cellphones while looking like emo rejects from a Coldplay concert, and the suits scurrying off to the pubs like rats to do the usuall wheeling and dealing. "Welcome to another Thursday", I thought with a wry smile and I glanced at my invitation to "L&M's Bar and Grill - Grand Opening, bring your geetar for Open Mike Night" with it's hastly scrawled CM. "Who's CM?", I pondered as I looked around the street hoping for at least a sight of some cute moll with great gams. No such luck, as I patted the case of my gat, a beat up old epiphone les paul. "Mess with the best, die like the rest", grinning as I snap the brim of my fedora and head towards the glowing neon L&M Bar sign. Noticing the smashed in door I had the feeling I missed a great party. "A day late, a dollar short.", I thought.

Entering the gloomy interior, I couldn't help but notice there was no one around. Suddenly my eyes were blinded by what I first thought was a flashback to the 70s. On a second look my jaw dropped and I stared at the stage framed by the background of hideous bright pink tartan curtains. I shook my head bemused, "I haven't even had a drink yet", I said to myself. Rumaging behind the bar I found a clean glass and a full bottle of scotch. After a few good stiff drinks I took out my guitar, walked on to the stage, turn on the spots that were hidden behind the curtains, and plugged into the house amp that looked like it had seen better days and started to riff softly while singing at my best. My best usually scares cats and dogs and makes children cry, but I was alone, it was enough...

"The old bar is empty and full of gloom,
As I sit drinking and playing to an empty room.
The room echos with whipsers of past conversations,
of love, lust, and meaningless conantations,
like some lost forgotten tomb."

"So raise a glass, lads, and take another drink,
Life is rosy, when you're in the Pink"

"The bartender is at home nursing his aching head,
The patrons are pukin' in their toliets wishing they were dead.
And the room swirls with past laughter and glee,
Smelling of whisky, smoke, and stale pee,
As I play on, bathed in garish pink red."

"So raise a glass, lads, and take another drink,
Life is rosy, when you're in the Pink"

Res slowly comes round from a deep sleep (too much to drink last night).
What a great bar he tinks to himself, lots of cool nice people here. Yhe kind he gets on with.

He slowly adjusts to a sound that is filtering through from the stage. Res looks up and see's a guy bathed in pink light playing a geetar & singing like a cat. But res ignores the bad playing (bad my anyones standards ;) ), however the lyrics. Wow those lyrics they hit home and sound so right.

So right for a guy with a beard that just sings & plays from his heart. This must be cajabu's bar I've woken up in as it just seems the great place to be. A place that is here to have fun and to laugh and forget all those stressful moments we all have.

That place to unwind, that place to have fun. Come join us all & have a great time, whether you drink water or wine :).

#11 cajabu

Posted 06 June 2008 - 05:45 AM
cajabu steps out of the pharmacy across the street, patting the little bulge in her purse, those pink pills jsignal mentioned sounded interesting, quite good in fact, she feels much better, niceee and relaxed now. she is still humming the song warren was singing last nite, gosh he has a strange accent, cajabu is half deaf, she gets the lyrics wrong to songs all the time, she couldn't quite make out exactly what that bit was about soiling love and holding wood. must be a texas thing, she thinks.

she looks up and notices the lights are on at the bar across the street, she hurries across to find the door has been kicked it, and what's this....a torn piece of curtain material stuck in the door jamb....could it be possible, she wonders.....

she steps carefully past the broken down door and steps inside, blinks a few times as her eyes adjust to the smoky air and dim lights....

to her utter amazement, she sees that the legendary curtain man is behind the bar, shaking up drinks like tom cruise, no wonder the place is jam packed now, she should have thought of getting curtain man to headline in the first place, marketing was never her strong suit. gosh that man is drop dead hawt, she thinks. where did he get those boots and matching cape of curtain material, they would be considered terribly fastidious on an ordinary man, but this is definitely.....not an ordinary man.

cajabu pops another little pink pill and begins to sashay her way over to the bar, intent on.....well she never quite knows until she gets there.....

....and ends up doing a lip stand after tripping over something bulky laying on the floor.

cajabau: oof!! owwww!!!

res: would ya look where you're going carma, geez ya nearly murdered me!

cajabu: what are you doing laying in the middle of the floor res, that's just plain discourteous.

res: get used to it carma, this is usually where i end up after a night in the bar.

cajabu: i'll try to remember that res. hey, who's that up on stage?

res: it's myrd carma, you know him, he's your neighbor, he lives in canada too, remember?

cajabu has to squint her eyes to block out the glare from the day-glo bright pink tartan curtains...

cajabu: ohhhhh! it's peter! gosh he's really good, i love that song, did he write it himself?

res: shh carma. i don't think you're supposed to say his name out loud, he's incognito, can't you see he's wearing a fedora? and yes he did write that song himself, can't you see the little copywrite symbol?

cajabu is very impressed, her eyes grow very wide: ohhh yes, gosh doesn't he look all film noir, in fact, he's in black and white, the only thing in color up there is the curtain, neat trick, how does he do that?

res: you should know carma, just like he's singing...life is rosy, when you're in the pink.

res looks rather pointedly at the little bulge in cajabu's purse, and gives her a knowing sidelong glance.

cajabu clutches her purse a little more tightly, hmph, cheeky monkey, she thinks.

oh but the next act is about to take the stage, she settles in next to res on the floor and waits with much anticipation....

cajabu gets tired of waiting for the next act. darn musicians, she thinks. always late for their set. she will have to hire that big oil rig dude leroy, the one with the care bear tattoo.....to do the scheduling from now on, no one takes her seriously. surely a care bear tattoo on a big oil rig dude means business, she thinks....the juxtaposition of opposites is just too overwhelmingly obvious.

she sighs deeply, a worried look crosses her face as she wanders outside to look at the night sky and get some fresh air. her heart heavy, her head filled with uncertainty about how to spin this place, such a great location, fantastic opportunity for up and coming musicians, surely people should be clamoring to get in, does the menu need tweaking or something, designer pizza maybe, or maybe she should have a ladies nite, that always brings in the musicians, that always separates the men from the boys.

caught deep in her own troubling thoughts, she doesn't notice jsignal leaning back against the wall, wearing those jaunty jandals of his (oh that will not go over big, she thinks, but it's just so much fun to say jaunty jandals, lol) and smoking a cigar.

jsignal: hi carma, what are you doing out here?

cajabu: oh hi jim, you know i'm just a bit worried, business has really slowed since opening night, curtain man really drew in the crowd, but he's such a big star, so busy so popular, i can't even get ahold of his agent, he won't return my calls, i hear curtain man is booked solid until 2012. it seems no-one wants to come back here, this place just has no cache, it seems something is missing, is it that new disco down the street, is disco making a comeback, is it the ambience jim, is it the pink tartan curtain, is it the decor, is it the drinks, we have happy hour here 24/7 and everyone has an unlimited tab, what am i doing wrong jim, why doesn't anyone come to my bar.

jsignal takes a long slow draw on his cigar: carma, it's your reputation, you have a bad rep.

cajabu is aghast.

cajabu: why i'm aghast jim, what do you mean by that, how can i have a bad rep, nobody knows me here.

jsignal: they don't know you carma, but they know of you. and your uh....pink pill habit.

cajabu: but jim! i didn't have that habit until you wrote it into the plot!

jsignal: carma, you lost the plot long ago.

cajabu: ok jim...just tell me then.....what should i do?

jsignal: simple carma, you need a new image for the place.

cajabu: how do i do that jim?

jsignal: the name carma, change the name of the place, something catchier, generate some excitement.

cajabu: oh do you think it will work jim?

jsignal: haven't a bloody clue carma, but it's worth a shot, and don't make people write all this drivel, just let em come in and play something without all this dumb narrative.

cajabu: ok, i can do that jim, i can change the name to something more catchy, and i can let people know they don't have to do the whole writing schtick, they can just come in and be themselves, play a song, have a drink, enjoy the company of friends, really i just want people to have a nice time here, no pressure.

jsignal: sounds good carma, if you build it, they will come.

cajabu: thanks, jaunty jandal jim.

jsignal: carma, if you keep calling my jandals jaunty, i swear i'll never set foot in this place again.

cajabu can tell jsignal is very serious, oh he takes his jandals very seriously, she makes a mental note to make a special effort not to call his jandals jaunty again.

with that, she leaves jim to finish his cigar and makes her way to the storage room where she keeps her ladders and pots of paint....

cajabu climbs back down to the street, she is splattered in paint, smiling ear to ear, oh she looks very pleased with herself now, she has given the bar a new catchier name, lit up with twinkly lights now, the sign can be seen for miles in every direction.

tired, but hopeful and happy, she packs up all her gear and heads home to get some sleep, she has an early morning appointment with a marketing director and a promotions manager, supposedly they are very well connected, they have promised to get the biggest names in the business to play this venue.

cajabu is only slightly concerned that the promotions manager claims to have a jello tree growing in his garden, and the marketing director seemed a bit.....well, colourful, to say the least, surely those red tights he was wearing were to keep his legs warm, they still have snow in idaho, he said, can you beleive that, june and there's still snow in idaho. cajabu can't quite imagine what that has to do with summer in nashville, but she will just have to think about that in the morning, she needs her beauty sleep.

A man known far and wide for his Jell-o Tree Farm burst through the door carrying a large sample case of various Jell-o products. He stops short, looks around, and sees a small stage located at one end of the room. While making his way to the stage he exclaims.

“Nice curtains.”

“Curtain Man has surly been here. I know his work.”

“Cajabu, may I call you Bubu? Have I got the opening act for your ‘New and Improved’ place here.”

Stepping up on the stage…

“Drum-roll please.”

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to present one of our own from L&MG to play for you. I give you…”

“Skate8, playing My Funny Valentine.”

“Put your hands together and give him a warm Welcome :D ”

http://community.leg...w&mus_id=100371

Thunderous clapping was heard throughout the room.

“Thank you Skate8. That was wonderfully played.”

“Now that’s what is needed here! Along with a fine selection of Jell-o Products.”

“I have the best selection of Jell-o Products known to man. They do grow on trees you know. Not just any trees mind you, but specially grown and care for Jell-o Trees from the seeds of specially marked Jell-o Pudding Packs.”

“On this Re-Grand Opening… Jell-o for Everyone!”, was heard from Bubu.

“Now how many cases did you want, Bubu?”…

And a deal was made right there to supply all the Jell-o Products anyone could ever eat, because… There’s Always Room for Jell-o.

#15 cajabu

Posted 09 June 2008 - 05:57 PM
cajabu cannot believe her good fortune, surely the jello gods are smiling down on this bar, finally a lucky break, everyone loves jello, and musicians in particular are well known to be jello-dependant, no other bar in town has the market cornered on jello, this is really going the make the legacy legendary, surely now people will be falling all over themselves to get thru the door.

as the huge semi loaded with crates and crates of jello is unloaded at the dock, cajabu and kent can be seen shaking hands, sealing the deal to what surely will help make this bar become the hottest place in town. the deal of the century, indeed kent has the biggest selection of jello products cajabu has ever seen, kent has promised to grow jello in custom flavors especially for the legacy, coffee jello, pina colada jello, margarita jello, mango, kiwi, passion fruit....any flavor anyone can think of, kent is the man who can deliver the goods.

cajabu: kent, it is such a pleasure doing business with you, not only did you come bearing jello, but you somehow managed to get skate8 to play in my humble little speak-easy, isn't he fantastic, such talent, such rythmn that man has, did you see how the crowd went wild when he played my funny valentine, i always loved that song, skate8 really made it his own with that jazzy rendition.

kent: i had a feeling you'd love skate8 bubu, he draws the crowds everywhere he goes, once word gets out that he's played here, everyone will want a piece of the magic.

cajabu: oh kent i know! and i'm so excited, i have such a good feeling about this bar now, the possibilities are endless, the list of up and coming musicians here grows bigger every day, and the jello thing, oh joy, oh blissy bliss, we can serve jello shooters, jello cocktails, jello jigglers, jello pop tarts, jello smoothies, jello punch and my personal all time favorite.....jello popsicles!

kent: oh jello popsicles are sure to be a big hit in this heat, bubu....great idea!

suddenly kent's happy-go-lucky demeanor changes, a dark shadow falls across his face, he glances furtively around the bar before taking cajabu aside to speak quietly into her ear:

kent: bubu, i took the liberty of leaving you a jello cookbook behind the bar, everything you can imagine from appetizers to desserts, you may want to take special note of the beverage section, don't let the book fall into the wrong hands tho, the recipes are top secret, been in my family for generations, there are people of unsavory character and unscrupulous motive who would kill for that recipe book, make sure you keep it under lock and key at all times, don't even breathe a word of it's existence, trust no-one with it.

cajabu swallows hard, she is smart enough to know that kent has just introduced her to the seedier side of the jello business, a dark and dangerous world of blackmarket jello smuggling, covert dealings orchestrated by ruthless mob bosses who will stop at nothing to establish themselves as lord of the jello.....thugs and thieves who cook jello in illegal and unsanitory basement labs, often putting entire neighborhoods of women and children at risk. cajabu has seen sordid tales of the good jello life gone very bad on jerry springer.

cajabu stands in stunned silence as kent presses his business card into her hand, then nonchalantly walks out the door, tossing a perky farewell over his shoulder just like that, as tho he had just delivered roses and sunshine and happy childhood memories.....

visibly distraught now, cajabu is very glad nobody was in the bar this afternoon, not even one of her little pink pills can ease her anxiety.

she does not notice that chris h is still sitting in the corner of the bar, smiling and wearing those dark sunglasses of his. he's been there for days now, so quiet, almost mute, he has really managed to blend in with the potted palms....

Dennis walks in wide eyed wondering what strange set of circumstances lead him to a joint like this. Did he play a wrong note in Albuquerque wind up in a surreal comic book?
Closes the door and slips to a corner table. Lacking the tongue for the written word as eloquent as displayed here, he pulls out his guitar and begins to fiddle around.

Warren walks over> "Dennis, you can't fiddle around on a guitar. In order to 'fiddle around' you must have a fiddle. You can guitar around on a guitar, quite well. Let me buy you a drink. If nothing else, let me tell ya, you been an inspiration to me on L&MG. I, too, was a single father. I'm amazed that you've found the time to become as good as you are! Well done! Oh, and don't worry about surrealism in this place...that's what it's here for. Anytime you want to drop in, feel welcome. " Warren waves and Res and Jim..."Hi, guys! What's happening? Y'all need another beer, yet?

“Sounds like a marching band coming down the street playing the Jell-o Man Song.”, exclaims Bubu.

Bubu rushes over to the door, swings it open, and in marches the entire 200 member marching band with 16 twirling baton girls followed by 8 Brass Monkeys from the sealed secret sacred crypts of Ancient Egypt bearing crates of Jell-o popsicles in a large variety of flavors.

“Bubu, here is that order of Jell-o Popsicles I promised you.”

“Wow, that was fast service!”, exclaimed Bubu.

“The Jell-o Man always delivers on time.”

“Put the order in the freezer right away. We don’t want them to melt and we need to get them away from the Monkeys as soon as possible. Monkeys love my Jell-o popsicles. Especially the banana flavored ones. Those are my favorite too. I must be part monkey.”

While talking to Bubu, The Jell-o Man notices Dennis is sitting in the corner warming up on his guitar. Not letting this opportunity pass me by, I leap up on the stage and introduce Dennis.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Hobos and Tramps, Bowlegged Spiders and Cross-eyed Ants.
I stand here before you, I stand here in back of you, and tell you a story I know nothing about.”

“Last night, at 10 o’clock in the morning, two boys came out to fight.”

“Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords, and shot each other.”

“A death policeman came and arrested them after hearing the noise.”

“If you don’t believe me, just ask those three blind men standing over there. They saw the whole thing.”

“But I digress.”

“Put your hands together for another L&MG grad, Dennis!”

“DC, give us some of that Dennis Funk.”

http://community.leg...w&mus_id=100362

The crowd goes wild! Everyone is dancing and rejoicing to the music.

“Wow, that was great!”

“From now on, whoever performs on stage will get a free six-pack of their favorite Jell-o Product. Courtesy of The Jell-o Man. Just have Bubu put it on my tab.”

“Bubu, make sure Skate8 gets his favorite. We don’t want to start off on the wrong note.”

“Will do.”, Bubu says.

With business being concluded for the moment, The Jell-o Man says his fond farewells, strikes up the band and marches out the same way he came in.

“That Jell-o Man sure knows how to make an entrance and exit.”, says Bubu.

#19 cajabu

Posted 10 June 2008 - 06:56 PM
cajabu has a stunned look on her face, she comes to an abrupt halt, the tray of drinks she was carrying slips from her hands and crashes to the floor as kent and his egyptian jello entourage of monkeys and virgins parade out of the bar to the strains of 'walk like an egyptian'.

cajabu: gee zeus, what was that, what on earth is kent cooking his jello with, ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh, where is he getting those jello seeds from, specially marked packages of pudding pops....uh, yeah...riiiight.

she gives her head a shake and looks over at the table where res, jim, and warren are all sitting wide eyed with disbelief, their drinks held midway in the air to their gaping mouths. dennis is still up on stage, his guitar still held under his chin like a fiddle after playing that funky music, so that's his secret, what a unique technique, gosh it really pays to see someone play live, who would have guessed dennis holds his guitar that way.

res: what kind of a madhouse have ya got here, carma?

cajabu: erm.....i don't quite know myself yet res...that was.......well, that was certainly unexpected, i uh, i dunno quite what that was, actually.

dennis: gosh i knew this place was a bit surreal, like a comic book, but this is just over the top, i've seen some strange things in my day but this.............

warren: but he did get you to play dennis, that was fantastic by the way, interestin' technique you got there, it took kent to get ya up on stage, kent does have the gift of the gab, he's a great salesman, i bet he could sell jello popsicles to eskimos.

jim: well that would make perfect sense warren, of course eskimos would buy popsicles, they have natural storage facilities for popsicles.

warren: no jim, eskimos are sick of all things icy, they'd be more likely to buy hot chocolate, and besides, the commission is much better.

jim: and how would they heat the hot chocolate warren, they live in an arctic wasteland, there are no trees for building fires.

warren: seal oil jim, they hunt seals and squeeze 'em for the oil, they burn seal oil for heat.

jim: warren that's just idiotic, seal oil is a precious commodity, eskimos would not use seal oil for making hot chocolate, they need it for heating their igloos and waterproofing their boots.

res just cannot believe his ears now, what are these two on about, why doesn't anybody ever stay on topic, the topic always veers off in these strange tangents, nothing ever makes any sense.

res: oh would ya both just shut up the two of ya, you're both nutters, what does a kiwi and a texan know about eskimos, why don'tcha ask carma, she's canadian, if anybody would know about eskimos she would.

the group looks over at carma and waits for her to tell them all about eskimos and seal oil and igloos and hot chocolate, her thoughts on the matter are held in high esteem.

cajabu: oh that reminds me, have you seen the movie "antaranjuat...the fast runner", really good, both entertaining and educational, you would not think a movie about the life and times of eskimos would be all that exciting, but it really was an exciting movie, filled with suspense and intrigue, eskimos really do have a unique and profound perspective on the the world, really fascinating society, interesting rites of passage, complicated social structure.

res sighs in exasperation: never mind carma, geez ya made a real mess there, shame to waste all that beer, i know business has been slow for ya, warren will help ya clean that up, just put it on jim's tab and get us all another round, would ya luv.

dennis is still on stage, fiddling with his guitar, wondering what he has gotten himself into, how did he manage to get himself into this mess, albuquerque was weird enough, all those tarot card readers and shamans and balloonists there, did he inhale too much helium in albuquerque or something, maybe he can slip out the back stage without anyone noticing.....
