I think I read some where that Norway was the most expensive country in the world to live in. That said, the tax rates quoted by CT and KC are a bit deceiving-they also pay federal income taxes. My last years of work, cost me 33% in federal and luckily no state taxes-I live in one of 5 states without state income taxes. If I lived across the border, 20 miles away I could tag on another 9-10% as certain areas have municipal income taxes as well. Now gas....... that's a different discussion. We all would likely drive differently and with a strong concern about fuel economy in the states at 10 dollars a gallon.

I'd love to go! If the government would stop taxing me to death I might be able to afford it.

CT, I just had to respond to this as last time I checked taxes are at the lowest they have been for quite a few years, ...I am sure you could find some area to cut back somewhere...you have plenty of time to save...even $100/mo. helps :)

Kurt

Interesting - he never mentioned tax rates nor income taxes specifically. His taxes could be going up as a result of other things, like increasing income or changes in character of income, change in marital status, phaseout of deductions, etc. Other tax rates have gone up - state taxes, gasoline taxes, real estate taxes (yes, some have gone up).

I'll be there! I've already got clearance from wife. However, hopefully a date will be announced because we are trying to plan some other summer stuff.

I hope everyone shows up. If I only had $1 for everyone who said they were going to go last year and didn't. They missed out big time.

I tried to get a European gathering off the ground a couple of years ago, but it fell through in the end. Now, could I get clearance from my wife for Nashville, hmmmm :whistling:

I'm afraid that us north of the border have way way more taxes than y'all down south of me.
Everything has tax..
The guy that cut your hair.. the Fed government taxes a 5% on that .. they call it a service..
but wait..
the Provence (like your state) has decided it was too hard to collect 2 taxes and split them (since the they wanted their own amount)
so they now call it an HST (harmonized tax) it stands at 13% on all most 98% of everything you buy or get served.

so enough of this.

Steve tell us the dates for next year so some can start planning.

Gentlemen,
Drop the T subject, please. I would love to attend. Please post some details so I know what to expect. For example, are there blocks of rooms set aside in local hotels? Assuming I drive, what is parking like? And of coarse the all important dates.

No dates/location have been set yet.

Last year they had a block of rooms at the hotel, which made reservations easy. The hotel also gave free parking, which was nice.

A couple things may help some people attend who may be low on funds....share the ride with a friend or another member.....also Amtrack is fairly reasonable.
