Welcome to a new chapter in your development!

Here in Sessions 7 & 8, you are going to increase your ability to play in any key exponentially. No longer are you going to be bound by guitar-friendly open keys of C, G, D, A and E. At the end of these two sessions you'll be able to play in any key. The world of keys is about to open up to you.

In these sessions you will also begin to learn some very important concepts about the "why" of music. Many people play guitar but much fewer actually understand why what they are playing sounds good. And once you begin to understand the "why" of music and how music works some significant doors in your understanding will begin to open.

Here are a few tips for you as you begin these important sessions of 7 & 8. - Steve

We've created numerous videos like this to help you out at various stages of your learning journey.

You can find out more about these helpful Roadside Assistance Videos here... ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE VIDEOS

I'm glad I stumbled upon this Steve as I will begin session 7 tomorrow. I am so excited to learn about the keys and being able to play in them across the fretboard. In the years that I have been playing guitar I have pretty much been a prisoner of the open position. I'm not complaining because it gave me many songs and years of enjoyment but I always wanted to venture "out there." I did a few times and sometimes I got lucky and found a few "chords" of my own invention (I'm sure they have names but I don't know them..yet!) anyway I even wrote one song using mostly just those chords..but really it was just blind luck cause I haven't been able to do it again and even that song is something which I have to painstakingly revisit and relearn because to me there is no rhyme or reason to it (just that it sounds good to my ears)...soon I will understand. I am saying this with confidence because honestly Steve, I can't believe how much I have learned and RETAINED during these 4 or 5 weeks..this course has exceeded my expectations and now I know that I am truly on my way to becoming the musician I always dreamed about (not just someone who plays chords to accompany herself to sing her songs!!)
I guess you have heard all this before but I just have to add to the list of people who sing your praises..
God Bless you and thank you so much for your gift of teaching and your love of music that you have imparted to all of us!! AND for this forum!!

Maria,

Thanks for your note. I'm so glad that you are learning a lot. I think there is a lot of music inside of you that is waiting to burst out if I can just keep putting little musical keys into you to unlock it all. I get a big kick out of it. Keep up the progressing. There are many people around you that need to hear your music.

Keep in touch.

I am just beginning Session 7 and i think that I will take a few days to do the finger strengthening exercise while memorizing the notes on that 6 string. Then I'll add 1 finger at a time til i can get all the fingers down to play all the barre chords.

HI STEVE, I CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE MADE IT THIS FAR, I BEGAN ON THE 14TH JUNE 2012. I STARTED SESSION 7 YESTERDAY AND FEEL PRETTY CONFIDENT AS I HAVE BEEN PLAYING BARRE CHORDS FOR MANY YEARS BUT I MADE MYSELF JUST GO THROUGH THE LESSON AS IF I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING AND IT WAS VERY INTERESTING AS I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN MUSIC THEORY. ( IT WAS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO PHOTOCOPY THE EXTRA RESOURCES PAGES TO PRACTICE MY MAJOR SCALES)

IN SESSION 6 I LEARNT SOME GREAT NEW STRUMMING PATTERNS WHICH CHALLENGED MY STANDARD STRUM AND HAD ME NOODLING ABOUT EXPERIMENTING. I LOVED THE CHOICE OF SONGS ESPECIALLY THE ISLAND SONG WITH THE KETTLE DRUMS, I PLAN TO LEARN YOUR PLAYING AT THE END OF THE S6 DVD, WITH THE BACKING TRACK AS IT IS SO GOOD.

I JUST LOVE BEING PART OF THE COMMUNITY AS IT KEEPS ME FOCUSED AND AS I WRITE IN MY JOURNAL IT REMINDS ME IF I DON'T PLAY FOR A FEW DAYS. IT'S A GREAT RECORD OF WHAT I HAVE PLAYED IN THE PAST AND I PASTE NEW CHORDS IN IT AS WELL FOR QUICK ACCESS.

I JUST BOUGHT A NEW TANGLEWOOD TRAVELLER GUITAR TO PLAY AROUND THE CAMPFIRE AND LOOK FORWARD TO INCLUDING SONGS FROM THE COURSE.

THANKS FOR THE BEST COURSE THAT I HAVE EVER DONE, A LOT OF THOUGHT AND TALENT HAS GONE INTO CREATING IT. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY FINGERPICKING COURSE TO ARRIVE SOON.

YOU'RE BONZA MATE!

Enjoying the Journey, being joyful. :tunes: Getting better one practice at a time!

Just moved to session 7.

Does anyone have the link to the roadside assistance video?

I've tried to change my profile to indicate where I am on the course so that I would get the link emailed, however I can't see the flag anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated ( I think I will need it badly)

When I started session 7 it was a thud.  This was in Feb 2014. Now I am playing all exercises in 7, 8, 9.  Sound is good most of the time but still having issues with changing cords on time and strumming in time. Got to get more dedicated with memorizing cords, etc. I have no plans of moving on to lesson 10 until I master 7,8 and 9.

Thanks Steve for Learn and Master.  I so LOVE IT.

I think I will be in 7,8 & 9 for quite some time.  I look forward to the day when I can start Fingerstyle.

I'm with you Sherry. As much as I would like to move on I know I'm not where I won't to be.

My thoughts are that 1 thru 9  must be mastered before going to 10.

Sjurich, you started 3 sessions in parallel, that's a lot of stuff for sure.

I'm still on Session 7 and I started to play some 5th strings barre chords too.

Don't forget about the music theory too :P

I'm having this exact same problem. (Using my iPad though. Is that why? Is the feature not mobile friendly?)

You can't add that anymore.

The roadside videos Do show up in the sticky of each of their breakout session.
But also, most web browser don't display the videos on this forum any more.

Old Windows IE broswer still works and displays videos here

Thanks. Actually I just found the link by clicking quote on Steve's post and copy/pasting into my browser. I should've thought of that sooner. :)

Click here to go to the "Learn & Master Guitar on YouTube."  Not only are the Roadside Assistance Videos there, Steve has also posted many additional useful videos for us at this site.  Hope this helps.

And another site is Steve's "Guitar Gathering" on YouTube which contain many videos of his Live Lessons.
