If EC was God then this man was THE Supreme Deity.

In my opinion Peter Green was so much more better than Clapton - his tone, his voice, his compositions & certainly his feel for the blues way out shone Clapton. It is just unfortunate that his most creative years were lost to mental illness.

I have posted videos of Joe Robinson playing fingerstyle acoustic but the kid (he's still not 20) is versatile! Some up tempo jazzy electric

And a very cool solo in the middle of this song (and darn the kid can even sing)

Here's an "amature" doing a jazz version of Autumn Leaves. Records with one mic into the mic input of his computer sound card. About as basic as you can get. His "studio" looks like a basement storage room.

Sweet .... but he ought to re-do it with a steady-cam camera as much as he wiggles around while playing  Sounded fantastic.

I don't recall John Butler being mentioned here (but I have been rather amiss in following the forum in the past year). Check out this acoustic piece.

John Butler - Ocean

Oh did I mention that I'm going to see Santana in a couple of weeks? Didn't think so...

TomM, I know what you mean. I like the original by JerryC much better than the other guy, but that's just me.

And by the way, I just found this and I'm drop jawed:
How Paul Gilbert pulls this off on acoustic is beyond me!!!

Nothing Paul Gilbert plays suprises me anymore. The man is not human!
3 e's for Edward Tribute to EVH with only 3 strings and there all tuned to E.
S 13-14

May your bends always be to pitch.

TomM,

Sometimes the "cover" surpasses the original. Two examples that I can think of are: "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix; and "Highway 61" by Johnny Winter. I like the originals of both of these Dylan songs, but truly believe that these versions are superior.

Dan M.

Very true. But in the two cases I mentioned the covers are pretty much exact duplicates of the originals.

In this instance, by "original" do you mean Pachelbel? ;)

This is probably the most watched guitar video on youtube that there is, but hey, I won't lie, it's one of my favorites :)

It always bugs me a little when covers of the original get more attention than the original does. This is a link to the original and it has 8 million views while there is cover version that has 73 million views.

Another example, Sungha Jung's cover of Adam Rafferty's Billie Jean has 8 million views while Adam Rafferty's original only has 1/10 that amount.
