I'm there (hopefully with Mrs BDH). As for the 8 minute walk.... well, some of us walk faster than others but I will try!! :) Also, I 'think' that somewhere along the line either Craig or I committed that the two of us would play something together at the next Gathering (since we are close enough to actually practice together)... All I have to say about that, is now that an actual DATE is set... who committed to that??? :D :D :D

I was just at the hotel. It is about an 8 minute walk from the hotel to all of the clubs, Gruhns guitars, and things.

Guess it will have to wait another year, as this is Glastonbury Festival week.

Sounds great Steve! I checked out the location with Google Earth - not far at all from 2nd Ave (about 7 blocks) - looking forward to it.

Sign me up!

Marking off my calander now, thanks Steve!

Oh, and +1 vote for good job on relocating the Hotel. I don't like to drive in foreign cities if I can help it and this will be a much better location IMO. In addition, I'm off my diet now so I'll be able to go out drinking! 8)

It's too early to ask for the days off but I am already looking forward to it!

One question: Is it close to downtown?

Just looked up room rates at their website and the standard price that was shown to me was $150, so $109 seems like a decent discount.

Welcome everyone!

It's time to mark your calendars for the next Guitar Gathering here in Nashville. We just signed the contracts and we have some exciting changes this year.

THE DATES
Wednesday June 22 - Sunday June 26, 2011

THE HOTEL
Holiday Inn Express - Downtown Nashville http://www.hiexndt.com/

This is the week of Summer NAMM, 2011. There has been some speculation on whether or not Summer NAMM will even happen next year. But we have been assured by NAMM that if it happens it will happen on that week.

The Change in Hotel
I was very reluctant to change hotels since we have had a good time with the Radisson Opryland, but the Radisson didn't have the 2011 dates available that we needed and they significantly raised their prices on us for next year. Plus, a few other minor reasons.

Advantages of the New Hotel
There are some great advantages to the new hotel though.

1 ) IT'S DOWNTOWN!!! The hotel is walking distance from all of the fun nightlife of Nashville, just a few blocks away. No more shuttles to get everyone downtown for an evening.

2) The facilities look like they will fit our needs pretty well. Several meeting rooms. Lots of open space for hanging out and jamming.

3) Full Hot Breakfast included in your room rate. We negotiated a room rate of $109. Yes, it is a few dollars more than last year. But, the Radisson raised their rates too, so at least here you get a free hot breakfast everyday. And, for a hotel walking distance from all the clubs in the peak summer time in Nashville, I feel this was a reasonable rate and a good trade off for us and our needs.

4) Smoking Rooms - For those who are interested, this hotel is one of the few in Nashville that has a smoking floor. If you want you can smoke on the top floor while others are in their non-smoking rooms on the other floors.

5) Did I mention it was DOWNTOWN! Just a few blocks away from all of the clubs, NAMM activities, Nashville's famous Lower Broadway music areas, and, what may be by then, the Gibson Custom Pro Shop.

Mark your calendars and make plans to be with us.

- More Opportunities to Play Together
- More Guitar Ensembles
- Incredible Guest Artists
- Inspiring and Practical Workshops and Masterclasses
- An expanded Student Showcase (maybe even in a venue downtown)

It's Guitar Camp for adults!

See you there. I'll post more details as I can get them.

Steve,
I understand why you have "Guitar Gatherings" in Nashville. But I know you were raised in Texas. It would be nice if you could bring it home to Texas and in San Antonio would be real nice. What do you think Steve?

Glastonbury weekend again so I'll not be about. May be next year as it is a fallow year for Glasto.

Quiet, early to bed/early to rise, unobtrusive guitar student seeks temporary room mate in non-smoking room in Nashville during the Gathering, splitting cost seems cost effective (and easier on my wallet). This also makes it easier to eat a bit better. If interested let me know.
