Epiphone Fender Ibanez Ovation Lawsuit Era LP copy Les Paul SG Slide Steel

moar guitarz

just a picture of my guitar corner. Top left, a solid slide guitar of uncertain lineage, to its right; an Epiphone SG, below left to right: Ibanez Bass bought in a weak moment during a music shop close-out sale, Fender Strat (Player series), Les Paul clone of even more mysterious lineage, and an Ovation acoustic.

The Les Paul clone is interesting. I bought it in the early 80's as a finished body-only guitar. I've added the electronics and fittings over the ensuing years. While I was contemplating signing up for this course, I had some work done on it by a local luthier who commented "Japanese?" and sent me on a mission to try to find out where and when it was built. There are no markings on the inside or outside to indicate its origin. I do recall that it was Japanese and the timing seems right to mark it as a Lawsuit Era Les Paul that somehow escaped the saw. The neck is a bit weak, but otherwise a lovely guitar to play. At this point, I am at a loss - there is very little information out there and most of the pictures I've seen do not provide a good match, particularly the head stock which is narrower than the Ibanez and Bruny copies that I have been able to find. The best guess is Tokai at this point, but nothing to nail it down as of yet.
