Time For A Still Life Painting

Posted by Gayle Levee, 10 December 2010 · 187 views

When I started the large landscape, I had also stretched a canvas for a still life painting. The galleries are getting anxious, so it's time to get with it! Here is my setup and the easel. I always work directly from life when doing a still life. I find that I can see into it so deeply, and connect with the light and reflections so well, that it becomes a meditative experience to paint from life.

That said, it is also a bit of a rush because the flowers change hourly and the fruit will eventually spoil! So that keeps me from overworking things.
