Join Me In My Studio

Hello everyone -- I'm so happy to finally have everything in place so I can share with you my observations and artist's life! Welcome to my studio -- it's delightful to have you here.

I've just finished hanging an exhibit at the Vanderbilt University Club; that had taken up all my time painting portraits of the buildings at Vanderbilt. (The attached photo shows one of the Vanderbilt paintings.) In the process of that large project, I also experimented with developing new underpainting and knife painting techniques which I hope to use for my next project.

The next project, a series of large skyscapes, is finally at the top of the queue. The first large canvas awaits its second coat of gesso; the first three color studies have been completed and today I plan to do a fourth color study, this time with an underpainting of Terra Rosa. Wish me luck; I'll keep you informed :)

Help! I use Acrylics, I have just received your Learn & Master Painting course. I have watched the first DVD and lesson 1. I think this course is just what I need, however, I am having a hard time finding some of the supply items listed. In the Liquitex Brand of acrylic paints, do I purchase Light Body, Heavy Body, Professional Body, Super Heavy Body or Student Body paints? In the cadmium colors I can only find them in "hue" which you said on your DVD not to use. Also, about the Frederix Acrylic Primed Canvas Panels, do I get the Red Label, Green Label, Blue Label, Float, Creative Edge? Artisan Filbert and Flat # 2,5 and 10 brushes? (I have not been able to find a #5 brush.I have been to several web sites and spent hours trying to find the supplies I need.....I am most anxious to get started. Please give me some advice about the above questions. Thanking you in advance!

We have a list of colors for acrylic which is a little different for the oil paint list. And any of the Frederix panels are fine. Also, a #4 or #6 brush will work. Check out my posts on the forum under Frequently Asked Questions; there may be more answers for you there.
